Most of the afternoon have I watched the Prince of Denmark getting married to the Australian girl Mary. It was really not something, I had planned to watch more than casually, but an injury gave me the excuse to lay down and watch all about the marriage. Mostly on German tv because I often find it more interesting, to get a view that is farther away from my own on an event. And i thought how strange the event would be vied from for example a republican Americana, with the hereditary government plus a state church that blesses the marriage. I can only say to that, that it seems to work, and only 15 % of the population wants republic, that must make it nearly democratic :).

Best Wishes to Mary and Frederik

I can not find out to get a picture directly, but here is a link

Well, your monarchy is a little different than the ones we were taught about in school.

I was visiting the ruins under Christiansborg one day back when Frederik IX was king. There was a monthly public audience that day and the tour guide invited us to "go upstairs and see the King." I don't think I was the only one who was flabbergasted at the thought of such a causal invitation to see the King of a nation.

My best wishes to the couple as well.
